Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups cubed day-old bread French bread, challah, or brioche work best
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Optional glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar + 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream + a dash of cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • Prepare the bread: Cut your bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly into the greased baking dish.
  • Mix the custard: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
  • Soak the bread: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes and gently press the bread down so it all gets coated. Let it soak for 15 minutes.
  • Add butter and bake: Drizzle the melted butter over the top and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Make the glaze: While the pudding bakes, whisk together powdered sugar, milk or cream, and a dash of cinnamon until smooth.
  • Cool and serve: Let the bread pudding cool for about 10 minutes, then drizzle with glaze and serve warm.
